Pistacia Vera:
Pistacia Vera has opened up the garage door to play their hidden rock and roll gems for the masses. A brand new band on the Asheville music circuit, the songs are full of steam and the feeling in the air is one of energetic mischief.
From drug-addled stories of summer love to rock and roll anthems dedicated to plants, the song styles range from clandestine poetry to shout-out, sing-a-long choruses. Their output spans Psychedelic Rock, Blues, Punk and Folk. Influences include The Velvet Underground, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Swervedriver, The Beatles, Pixies, Black Lips, Ramones and early Green Day.
The band started in early 2014 when Benjamin Hatch and Joshua Cavinder started working out songs Benjamin had written. "I had been writing a lot but not playing out or jamming with other folks very much," says Benjamin. "Joshua and I had been friends for a while and when I played him a couple songs he seemed really into it. So we had rehearsal, he played bass while I played guitar and sang and it really clicked. That was when we still had Lydia playing drums." Scott Steere joined the band on drums in August of 2014.
Pistacia Vera has plans to record a full LP, which is already written, gig Asheville all they can and head out on tour. "I almost have the second album written now, too, so things are moving really fast, which is cool," says Benjamin. "We can't wait to show Asheville what we have here."
