D Double E has earned numerous titles over his three decade long career; ‘The Greatest Grime MC of All Time’, ‘the most legendary Grime MC’ and ‘the MC’s MC’. Counting Dizzee Rascal and Skepta as fans, the East London native has become a groundbreaking force within the UK Underground scene. D Double E consistently pushes boundaries within the genre, forging unprecedented styles and concepts through a completely unique fusion of sounds. Through various collaborative and solo projects, D Double E has established himself as a pioneer, veteran, and one of the most respected and critically acclaimed acts in the Grime game.
Raised in East London amongst the UK’s greatest Grime and MC talents, D Double E began mixing and rapping at an early age. Immediately catching the attention of his peers, D Double E gained notoriety in the UK Underground scene for his distinctive ‘echo’ vocal style and lyrical prowess. Soon he became an trailblazer of the grime scene, performing as part of the legendary N.A.S.T.Y. Crew and becoming a regular fixture to London’s pirate airwaves. A signing to long-time fan Dizzee Rascal’s Dirty Stank label in 2005 led to a collaboration with fellow heavyweights Footsie and Monkstar that would change the landscape of Grime forever. Newhan Generals’ debut album ‘Generally Speaking’ surpassed fans’ and critics’ expectations with its wide, electro-fuelled sound - a melting pot of Grime, Electro, Rave and Hip Hop. Global recognition ensued, followed by copious festival appearances, a worldwide tour supporting Dizzee Rascal, a solo European tour and explosive collaborations with Dizzee, Rustie and Shy FX protégé Breakage. The Dubstep-tinged ‘Street Fighter Riddim’, his collective effort with KISS FM’s DJ Swerve, blazed the charts in 2010 and marked his most successful solo venture to date.
Further releases, namely his acclaimed Bluku! Bluku! EP (2012) and N to the G’s EP(2015), captivated international audiences, and his charismatic flows and vocal nuances proved even tighter in 2016 with fresh track ‘Like This (Prod. by Killjoy)’.
