Party: SUP Club vs Aileen

No prizes for noticing it's still pretty windy out there! And therefore tonight's SUP Club is strictly for strong paddlers only (certainly no hire kit, and we may yet decide to postpone at the beach if it's obviously too much) – so if you're not completely confident of your abilities to handle crosswind / crosschop, or regularly find yourself towards the back of the group, please give this week a miss as it's potentially going to be pretty full-on and we'll need to paddle reasonably fast and stay together for safety. Because we're going to take on the windiest downwinder we've tried as a group – and as it will need to be quite high in the tide with potential for fierce bounce-back in places, quite possibly the choppiest too. (The forecast westerly looks doable, but it won't take much of a lingering southerly element to turn nasty!) So we're expecting everyone there tonight should already know the drill: meeting from 6.10pm, don't be late for a quick 6.25pm briefing at Chalkwell (www.supsect.com/chalkwell-beach nearest postcode, SS0 8JJ) before launching at 6.30pm, hopefully all together as we're counting on a similarly paced group tonight. Then it's about 7.5km to the slipway just beyond Uncle Tom's Cabin (SS3 9HG) around sunset before grabbing taxis back to collect vehicles, driving back and packing up, then to The Shorehouse for drinks and fodder.
